Biography

Eiry grew up in Wales where she studied at the Glamorgan Centre for Art and Design Technology and was awarded the Art and Design Award in 2003. Following that she moved to Leicestershire to study Furniture Design at Loughborough University School of Art and Design, where she graduated with a BA (Hons) in 2007. Since graduating Eiry’s work has received much praise and her career within the design field is progressing at an exciting rate. She is now based in Leicester where she is developing her design ideas and focussing on the core values of her design interests, alongside gaining invaluable workshop experience, expanding her knowledge of materials and processes.

Eiry was awarded Design Factory Designer of the Year and was presented with her award at 100% Design, London in 2007. The prize consisted of a support grant from the Design Factory; the East Midlands leading design organisation. The winning design took centre stage of Design Factory’s stand at 100% Design in 2008.

After being hand-selected to exhibit at Lustre; the East Midland’s premier Craft Makers Market hosted by the Lakeside Arts Centre, Nottingham in November 2007, Eiry was awarded the Hub Innovation Prize for demonstrating a challenging and innovative use of form, material and concept. The prize fund along with the support she received from the Hub: National Centre for Craft and Design aided greatly in the development of her product range in preparation for her showcase with them in 2008.

Melanie Kidd, Hub Head of Exhibitions said: “We are thrilled to present Eiry with this award. The selection committee was struck by the charm and wit of Eiry’s designs and believe she has a bright future in the design sector.”

Eiry also exhibited independently in Milan at SaloneSatellite, Salone Internazionale del Mobile in 2008 and was delighted to showcase her work overseas in what is one of the world’s largest and most prestigious furniture fairs. The feedback she received from the show was very rewarding and she looks forward to exhibiting internationally again in the future.
